Whew — what a month!!

Haven’t posted in a while because my main focus was that project for Mulligan Stew. It’s finally done & now they want to hire me again to do more consulting! My website is almost ready for viewing, I purchased my web address & everything looks pretty cool so far :P

This month, I was also in a PAWS commercial for local cable (pet tip housing) Click Here to see Video, I went to the Wine Fest (yummy tastings), watched the Memorial Day Parade from my porch with D & Duke, saw the staged gunfight on the town square with people on a retreat, used my friend Cat & her dog Shadow for my next PAWS newspaper article, I mountain bike guided for the 1st time this season & made a $60 tip for a family of 5, and joined Michele in the town of Kelly to support her school’s fundraiser “miles for money.”

So, this week I’m going to Colorado on Wednesday to stay in Denver with Marti & her family for the evening & then I’m headed down to Fairplay (right outside of Breck) for the 1st annual Couchsurfing event! I’ll be camping on a ranch for 4 days in a valley at the foot of 14K peaks (I’ll be @ 8,600 feet — & you thought Jackson Hole was high @ 6,100!). It will be a festival style set up with stages & lots of outdoor things to do! Maybe I can convince them to let me gallop on a horse! LOL Getting away & whooping it up now will be fun before I get super busy this summer :)

Happy June y’all!

My Momma in JH :)

May 20, 2009

Last Thursday, my momma rolled into town (actually she flew)!

We did a lot of great things together & the weather in Jackson has been summer-ish :) First, we headed over to Lava Hot Springs in Idaho – a two & a half hour drive away. Then we soaked in the glorious, healing hot mineral waters & stayed overnight in the lovely “Home Hotel.” Next, we hit Pocatello to see their zoo & I had a chance to see a big boy grizzly up close & personal. After that, it was shopping time! I bought a pair of infamous Silver jeans (yes, they are the best ever!) & some other fun stuff from the mall + WalMart. Mom also had a chance to meet some of my friends, have a drink at the famous Cadillac happy hour & eats at some of the best restaurants in town!

After seeing her off today, it was back to business . . . I am still working on perfecting my website, finishing up a consulting project for Mulligan Stew Pet Food & excited about starring in a local TV commerical tomorrow! The holiday weekend is quickly approaching, but even tho I have no plans (as I will be working on my project for most of it), I am sure some fun times will prevail during my break-times ;) I mean, how can I resist going outside when the local parade will be coming down my street?!

I am also in the process of learning my new camera + software, so please be patient with me if the pics at this point look sub-par. On an active note, I taught Trick-Puppy how to run on the leash next to me while I bike down the street & he’s been loving it! I also hiked up Crystal butte last week to get to a great picnic spot overlooking the Tetons & almost fell over during it because I was so tired LOL Now that the summer weather is finally here — it’s time for me to get back into the swing of things!!

Oh & PS: Jackson was just named one of America’s top 100 towns! They described Jackson as “a year-round leisure and recreation rendezvous in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.”
Heck yeah y’all!

Art Class + Eco-Fair

May 7, 2009

There’s been some stuff going on, but not much — it’s the JH slow season!
I got a few pics, but I’m REALLY getting tired of using my broken camera . . .
My new one should be arriving shortly – it just came out!!

So there’s pics of Sacre’s B-day, I did an art class & made my own painting, attended the town Eco-Fair (I was over by the organic wine tasting table for most of the day!) & I took a drive with my friend Dana over to Idaho Falls to do some real shopping!

I also scored a new consulting gig for Mulligan Stew Pet Food. It’s a big database project, which will take me about a month to complete! Also, the Rose Consulting, LLC website is almost complete — my website/flash builder & I are perfecting everything now, it looks awesome! By next post, I’ll have a link for you to check it :P

My momma is coming to Jackson Hole next week & we are going to be all about town! We also plan to head over to Lava Hot Springs – how lucky are we to have a hotel room with a jacuzzi tub that pumps water in from the hot springs!! Ciao for now ~

A PNW Roadtrip Vacation!

April 12, 2009

My first trip to the Pacific Northwest & people weren’t kidding . . .
That area of the earth is just gorgeous!!

Sacre, Trick (his dog) & I left last Friday @ 6am, drove over the snowy Teton pass & into Idaho over another (more snowy) pass & into Oregon. We drove all day, stopping only for food, fuel and doggie spots. Once we were inside of Oregon for a bit, we traveled alongside the Columbia River and saw a good amount of sweet waterfalls. Reaching Portland at about 9pm, we stayed overnight with a couchsurfing family & shared a wonderful salmon dinner meal with them. Unfortunately, our accommodations were the floor of their spare bedroom, but at least we had a place to crash. We left early in the morning & didn’t see a thing in Portland, due mainly to the fog that vieled the entire city :(

We headed north to see Mount St. Helens & took some beautiful pictures. What an amazing volcanic mountain! We then took some backroads over to Mount Rainier, entered the National Park site & drove up the twisty roads as far as we could go & got some more awesome pics. From there, we hit Seattle at sunset and saw all of the gorgeous waterways and boats in the harbors. It was great — no rain! We met up with my friend Andrea & her man for dinner in Bellevue (part of Seattle, Washington) and enjoyed a savory dinner at P.F. Changs & then stayed with them (unfortunately, our accomodations were the floor in a spare bedroom again)! We left Seattle and went to visit Sacre’s grandfather that morning in the nursing home and then started going north again to Whidbey Island to see Deception Pass. We did a short hike over there with the dog and then went over to Anacortes to catch a ferry to San Juan Island. It was beautiful traveling over to Friday Harbor during sunset hours. We then found a delicious seafood place on the water & bedded down for the night at a hotel.

A morning ferry took us over to Vancouver Island in Canada and we landed in Sidney and drove down to the city of Victoria. It was such a nice, sunny day, but we only had a few hours to explore and take pictures because we needed to get on our next ferry! In Victoria we saw some neat architchure, spent some Canada money on postcards and marveled at the seaplanes and boats in the harbor. Taking the ferry over the Straight of Juan De Fuca and over to Port Angeles (back in Washington), we had an insanely gorgeous view of the Olympic mountains. We were behind in schedule and got to the Hoh Rainforest inside of Olympic National Park when it was dark – but I wasn’t about to miss the Hall of Mosses! We took the dog with us (illegally) and went a few miles into the rainforest with nothing but a flashlight. Later, we kept driving in the dark until we hit the coastline and set up our sleeping quarters in a campground in the back of the SUV (complete with Trick puppy in the middle)!

Upon waking, we walked down the beach trail and experienced the big, beautiful Pacific Ocean. The sea air smelled good, until I happened upon a dead seal (yuck)! We continued driving down the coast of Washington and over to the west side of Puget sound. We then took a ferry over to Seattle and spent some time at Pike Place Market – where I got a Starbucks coffee from the original shop that started the trend and bought some yummy salmon jerky. Heading out of Seattle, we again headed North to see Sacre’s aunt and uncle that live on a farm in Bryant. It was fun chatting with the minature donkeys they raise on the land there. We visited with them a bit (checking out the tools we would be loading up in the Uhaul the next day) & drove south again to stay with a couchsurfer in Everett (back to great floor accomodations)!

The next day, we had planned to go to the famous Big 4 Ice Caves, but the weather had turned so chilly and windy – that we decided to go shopping instead! I was in my glory, shopping at Victoria Secret, the Clinique counter at Macy*s and some cool outlet shops. We then got the Uhaul and went back up to Bryant to load it up. After a few hours of painstakingly placing all of Sacre’s grandfather’s old and very expensive woodshop tools into the truck, we drove into Everett and stayed at a very nice La Quinta Inn (ahhh a bed, ahh a bath, ahhh KFC)!

In the morning, we enjoyed a complimentary breakfast, followed by 45 minutes of cleaning the rental SUV and ridding it of dog hair. Then it was a quick drop of the SUV rental at the airport and continuing on our way back to Jackson. We weren’t going to make it all the way to Jackson in 1 day, so we decided previously that we would stay with a couchsurfing couple in Boise, Idaho. As we went over the famous Snoqualmee pass, Sacre & I reminiced of our days of satellite radio, reclining seats and great suspension with our rental SUV.

After Boise, we again went shopping – this time at Home Depot and Bed, Bath & Beyond! We got some great stuff to pack into the Uhaul & made the final trek to Jackson, with a stop for mexican food in between :) Too bad I came back with the flu!! I’ll be spending Easter in bed, sleeping!!

End of Winter!

March 30, 2009

Happy spring!
(Although it’s still snowing like crazy over here!)  LOL

The week before last, my friend Kenny & I hit up Targhee Mountain Resort on the other side of the Tetons & boarded all around (I love a free ticket)!  I also attended a bear awareness seminar to refresh on mountain bike guiding factoids & volunteered to work a rockin’ KHOL dance party @ the Playhouse . . . Also, there was the 1st annual pond skimming party at Snow King – so last weekend, people were going down the mountain & trying to get across a pool of water while doing some crazy stunts.  It was a great time, however, I’m still taking pics with a broken camera (no viewfinder)!

On a sad note, I had to say farewell to my travel-nurse friend Andrea (she left Jackson Hole) — but, it’s awesome that I’ll see her next week in Seattle!  & I’ll definitely chill with her in Hawaii when she finally gets a job in Honolulu  :P

On another note, this past Saturday was my last day of snowboarding . . . & of course I had an AH HA moment!  I was boarding my best because I had finally discovered the “foot pedal” many have told me about.  Watch out next year Jackson – I’m gonna be an awesome snowboarder yet!  I boarded with a couple of girlfriends that day & then stayed for the free concert at the village.  It was great, minus going home soaking wet  ;)

& yesterday was the annual hill climb.  Although it’s a bit red-necky, I still went over there for a bit, met up with some friends & rode the lift up to the very top to check out the snowmobile racers.  The race involves going straight up the steepest mountain in the US (Snow King).

This week it’s work, work, work & then pack for my trip to the Pacific Northwest — Sacre & I are heading over to Portland, Seattle, the San Juan Islands and Victoria (Canada) with his dog , Trick.  Yipee — a week vacation!!

I never realized how fast 55 is on a snow machine – woo!

Kenny & I took his sleds out to Togwotee & did the trails in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Gros Ventre Mountains & also did the Continental Divide. It was fun being on trails & trying out the powder once in a while!

Yesterday, it was girl’s ski day out :P I aquired a free pass to go all over the mountain & I finally got to ride the new tram. It was CRAZY coming down the highest part of the mountain, but I did a bunch of fakey moves & was able to follow Andrea around. Once we got to Thunder chair, I just went up & down that a few times (mid-mountain, still pretty steep terrain in parts) & enjoyed myself! Then we rested at Casper Restaurant (also mid-mountain) & headed down for the day. Then it was happy hour at the Q with free wings, a hot shower, a hour nap & out to the Wort for a glass of wine & a slice of NY style pizza @ midnight!

In other news, I went to the kid’s rail jam & watched them do some crazy stunts, my neighbor Sacre raced in the Town Downhill on a snowboard this weekend, I had 2 important meetings business-wise, and I’m playing the stock market with my financial advisor – good times!

& although I still don’t have a way of sharing my radio shows with y’all, I should soon!

Fur Ball + Snowshoeing

March 10, 2009

In the last few weeks, I’ve had a pet-sitting gig — complete with 2 dogs, a cat, a bird, a mini-van & hot tub! Those days are over & now it’s back to the bike . . .

I did get dressed up in a gown & high heels for the PAWS Fur Ball event last Friday night which was fun. Plus, the event was a total hit — it completey sold out :P Afterwards (at midnight), Cat & I went out dancing LOL Bad news is . . . I broke the screen on my camera & need to buy a new one! & buying a new camera ain’t easy UGH

The next day, it was off to the National Park to try out snowshoeing for the first time with a guy that was visiting Jackson (& yes I toook pics anyway). It was so mild out I was wearing a T-shirt with my puffy around my waist the whole time! I am in totally in love with the sport & have to get my own snowshoes soon!!

The V Monologues

February 23, 2009

So, it’s only been a week since my last post, but I’ve been busy!

I participated in the Vagina Monologues at Jackson’s Center for the Arts this past weekend. All proceeds went to women of domestic violence & it felt great to offer support in that way. We couldn’t take pics of the stage & we couldn’t video record either, so I have nothing to show you, except for a few pics from backstage! My role was the spotlight – which changes every year. This was the year we spoke about the Congo & how men use rape as violent warfare.

I also went to a ski jump party in Red Top, a community radio dance party, played a dig-eree-doo, beat some boys playing battle video games & saw some ice sculptures sitting around in a field! This week I get ready for my pet/house sitting job, east of town – where I get a car to drive, a bird to sing with & an outdoors hot tub to soak in!

Billy’s Visit to JH!

February 18, 2009

I have soooooo much fun when friends come to visit . . .
mainly because it gives me the excuse to be on vacation too!

Billy arrived into Jackson Hole by way of his $70 Million Dollar jet Thursday evening (he’s a jet mechanic & flies all over the world with the rich poeple that own the jet as a pleasure vehicle)! Billy & I know each other from Connecticut & we had the awesome experience of skydiving together a few years back. In Jackson, we had great times snowboarding, sleigh-riding through the Elk Refuge, meeting friends, eating Dairy Queen, dancing at the Cowboy Bar & just plain ol’ having fun!

& now it’s back to work :P
Pics from my big debut this weekend in the Vagina Monologues to come shortly . . . (!!)

Winter Fun in JH!

February 3, 2009

So — I’ve had some serious fun at bingo night, boarding Snow King with Sacre, attending the PAWS Marley & me event (what a fun movie!), working the sled dog event, attending the women’s hockey game & going out dancing with my girlfriends!
All in the past couple of weeks :P

For those of you that are interested in seeing the detail of the trip I am heading in July, the link is posted below. This was the job where I put a proposal together for last June & won! I may do the trip alone or with another guide – it’s still not decided yet:
http://www.outdoorbound.com/index.php/events/sub/yellowstone_grand_teton_multi_sport_adventure/

Also, my friend Andrea introduced me to this new song by Matt Costa. Apparently he is a former skateboard pro & he’s now signed to surfer Jack Johnson’s label . . .
Take a listen to “my” new song!!
