A Long Island Party!

December 30, 2008

What a time I’m having vacationing on the east cost :)

The party started after Christmas when Rhonda picked me up at the train in her hot 2-seater car! From there, we headed over a Friday’s restaurant & had fun chatting with a retired football player. Then we went to another Friday’s further out east on the island & met up with my friend Jane & her boyfriend Ryan (Jane stayed with me for a week in Jackson last March). All of us decided dancing was the ultimate plan, so we went over to the Curry Club & danced the night away! I made friends with the bartender & enjoyed free drinks for the entire evening LOL

After Rhonda & I slept countless hours away (we couldn’t avoid a hangover unfortunately), Rhonda dropped me at my friend Ellie’s house. It was great being around her high-energy kids that were 4 & 2 — so we hung at her house for a bit & then drove out to Huntington. We went directly to Eileen’s Ben & Jerry’s store & had ice cream for an appetizer, mexican food for dinner & of course, ice cream for dessert!

The next day, my mom & I went to my friend Nan’s new house for a mother-daughter dinner. After laughing like crazy together & shoveling in a ton of food, we had fun opening up our “festivus” gifts! Yesterday, I borrowed my mom’s Lexus & drove out to see a couple of people on the island. That itinerary included people at my old IT job at Busse, my neighbor Lorraine from Spring Meadows, Michael’s parents (I haven’t seen them in 7 years!) & then dinner at Russell’s beach house. Russell cooked me an authentic spanish dinner, complete with flan!

Right now I am in New York city killing time in a cafĂ© after my meeting this morning with Kirk & Connie from Outdoor Bound. It went really well & it’s a definite that I’m guiding their Yellowstone/Jackson Hole trip in July 2009! For lunch today I met up with Rob, who has the same b-day as me (Scorpio!), lives in the city & is a published author.

Tonight? It’s all about Nico!!
& that, my friends, is SURE to be a very fun time.
Brooklyn anyone?

Happy New Year y’all :P

Christmas in NY

December 26, 2008

I have to say . . . being in New York for the holidays has been very, very different. I love being able to see my family & friends, however – I really miss Jackson Hole! In fact, I’m missing the first real dumping of snow there right now!!

So, after countless hours of packing & 3 hours sleep, Cat picked me up at 5am to bring me to the JH airport last Thursday. I sat next to a cool guy on the plane & we chatted all the way to Denver. He even invited me to the “red carpet room” during our layovers to drink festive eggnog drinks :P Then I felt super-cool meeting up with Andrea’s boyfriend (a pilot in uniform) & then proceded to get on my flight to La Guardia with all the Niw Yoarkez LOL Luckily, I landed before the “big” snowstorm – so traffic was only horrible, not unbeliveably ridiculous.

Since then, I’ve been driving around in my mom’s white Lexus (amazing how I fit in due to this small detail), spent some time with a few friends, drove to Atlantic City & then did a road trip to Annapolis, Maryland with my mom. I won $5 in Atlantic City & drank all the free drinks I could handle.

Then, Christmas arrived & we spent time with family. At my brother’s house on Christmas day I:
Got a special gift of a rock from the Grand Teton made into a necklace
Told some cool stories about what I do in Jackson Hole
Gained 3 pounds from drinking eggnog alone

Now it’s off to lunches & dinners with friends in Long Island, New York City & Connecticut that I haven’t seen for over a year! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas . . . & is looking forward to the New Year :)

It’s Almost Time!

December 18, 2008

It’s been a little crazy on my end, but I’m still going strong!!

First off, I’m used to my schedule of working 2 days a week at PAWS, not 4! I had to work 4 days a week for the last 2 weeks to make up for the money lost when I go on vacation. I’ve been trying to put together my tri-state schedule too – which consists of the wheres & whens of meeting friends either on the Island, NYC or CT! Adding to the hectic lifestyle were my homemade holiday cards (never again!), wrapping gifts, baking cookies & packing for my vacation to New York! But some things have been helping me de-stress . . . like power yoga on Mondays & Christmas bazzars – in addition to helping my girlfriend Cat move to Wilson last week!

In business news, I am now officially official. I now am a sole proprietor of –Rose Consulting, LLC– ! Now, I can work with larger businesses in town on smaller projects. I also met with a few accountants for my taxes, pre-recorded a few more radio shows to play while I’m out of town & finished working with the high school students on a website project. We are still trying to figure out how people outside of Jackson can hear my radio shows . . .

So! Now the snow is here to stay & won’t melt until spring, so I’m lovin’ riding my bike in it for the next few days. But, I promised myself when I return that I will start the search for a used Subaru vehicle. Exciting stuff :P

I’m a bit sad to leave Jackson tomorrow, but excited to see my family & friends :)
Have a very merry & see y’all very soon!
